French Mothers – Lovely Day To Die

Tim Marshall

Bedfordshire, UK based alternative, indie rock quartet French Mothers have recently released a new indie anthem ‘Lovely Day To Die’.

FFO: The National, The Walkmen, Fontaines DC, The Maccabees, and The Strokes.

Having found their song in such a small amount of time is incredible, being quite a young band having only started in 2021. Their sound shouts anthemic indie headliner vibes and ‘Lovely Day To Die’, doesn’t disappoint in that department.

Lead vocalist, Mark Harris says,

“This is a song about spending the
day with a friend in the midst of struggling with identity and poor mental health. The mind can be rather impulsive and scary… You either go to Islington… or die.”

Essentially an up yours to depression, and a middle finger to the way society sees those with depression.

‘Lovely Day To Die’ instantly gives The Strokes vibes, with the gripping guitar riffs, inspiring lyrics and energetic flow to the track.

This is the first of a trio of tracks being released in 2024, and if this track is anything to go by the next two are gonna be mind blowing as well!
