FAKE BEARS – Fake Bears…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!

Solo artist EJ, better known as Fake Bears released a few of his tracks reamagined as rock, pop rock tracks under the EP name ‘Fake Bears…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’.

I can’t get enough of this EP, seriously it’s fantastic! It gives, musical vibes as well as the pop rock style it’s meant to be based on. The musical that I instantly thought of was Dear Evan Hansen.

What you reckon, am I wrong?!

Solo and multi instrumentalist EJ, really shows his skills with the musical technicality and production on ‘Fake Bears…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’.

The first track ‘Uninterested’ according to EJ,

“Uninterested is about a girl I was into, named Sara. We talked quite a bit, but once I officially asked her out on a date, she ghosted me. This song reflects the time immediately after the ghosting; I was losing my mind, and I just wanted her to reject me rather than ghost me”.

‘Ascend…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’ is a positive anthem essentially about leaving the past behind and moving
forward and onto something better. It’s about rising above negativity that occurs in energy day life and ascending into a better, more fulfilling life.

The third track ‘Terrified…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’ is EJ’s quarter-life crisis anthem.  The song acknowledges his self-awareness of how necessary it is to let go of his younger years and grow up, but also simultaneously being terrified about it.

EJ explained the meaning of the final track on the EP, ‘scared of the dark…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’ (feat. Sage Saint John) in detail,

“This song is about a friend who is my light. I’m very introverted and I don’t socialize much, but this friend has given me the space and motivation to come out of my shell a bit. I feel safe with her. She also is featured on the track.”

I love the idea of his best friend being featured on the track, showing us there really are good people out there. The world needs more people like EJ and Sage.

Overall ‘Fake Bears…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’ is an incredible EP that is going to stick with me for a long time.
