FXRRVST – Constable Hotel

We’re excited to share another impressive release from our Canadian friends, FXRRVST! Following our review of their latest single, “CBAYAOM,” they just dropped their EP, Constable Hotel, on October 25th.

This is a collection of music you won’t want to miss.

Let’s dive in! Starting with the title track, “Lavender,” released earlier this April, this song has been on repeat for me. It has an aesthetic that really draws you in, capturing the pain and emotion behind the project from the get-go. The leading guitar melody creates a beautiful backdrop for the raw vocals, while the lyrics explore themes of trauma and self-loathing, blending indie, emo, and alternative rock seamlessly. It’s a fantastic opener for the EP.

Next is “CBAYAOM” (short for “Can’t Be All You Ask of Me”), a lively indie track with a harmonious introduction led by strings that guide us into the verse. This song continues the theme of self-respect and setting boundaries, reflecting the overall concept of the EP. The upbeat rhythm and bright atmosphere are infectious, with Holly’s powerful vocals shining through.

Following that is “Hate Has No Home Here,” which starts with a nostalgic guitar riff that sets a reflective mood fitting for its message. The passionate vocals add urgency, bringing the lyrics to life, while punchy drums keep the momentum going. The smooth production ties together the instruments and vocals beautifully for a polished sound.

Finally, we have “Nightmare Dreaming,” which starts off with a soft, dreamy sound that quickly becomes unsettling. Holly’s gentle vocals paired with simple instrumentation create a calm atmosphere, but the lyrics hint at feelings of loneliness and struggle. As the song progresses, intense drums disrupt the mellow vibe, adding tension and unease. This contrast captures how our thoughts can drift into darker places.

Overall, Constable Hotel is a masterpiece that FXRRVST should be incredibly proud of. The time and effort they’ve poured into the intricate details of their songs resonate deeply with listeners. If you haven’t already, we at Punkio highly recommend checking them out on all available streaming platforms and showing some love for their latest EP!
