Icarus Phoenix – High Tide

Baltimore based dream pop, shoegaze group Icarus Phoenix have released their new single ‘High Tide’ today.

Icarus Phoenix is from Baltimore, MD. Its members are Drew Danburry (guitar/vocals), Eli Sims (drums), Leena Rhodes (guitar/vocals/synth) and Brendan Russell (bass). The band originally formed in Missoula, Montana (2020) and has had multiple lineups, one of them playing Treefort Music Fest in Boise, ID, back in 2021.

‘High Tide’ is from the upcoming album by Icarus Phoenix “I Should Have Known the Things You Never Said” which is out on August 15th.

Lead vocalist Drew Danburry talked about the meaning of ‘High Tide’,

“I got divorced a few years ago, was somewhat forced to pick up and start over in a new place across the country – Drowning in dehumanization and the double standard my ex had placed on me, this song was a battle for survival. Plodding slowly forward through the mental sludge that drowns us all.”

You can hear that the track has deep meaningful lyrics that you don’t usually hear from the male perspective.

From what I’ve heard from ‘High Tide’ and their previously released single ‘Painting’, I’m really looking forward to hearing what the album has to offer.

If you want some music to chill to and enjoy, then Icarus Phoenix is the band you need to listen to.
