Lame Gretzky – Greatest Hits

Bucks County, Philadelphia based alternative rock quintet Lame Gretzky have released an EP, ‘Greatest Hits’.

Having not previously released many songs you may be thinking… “how can they have a greatest hits EP?”

Well the answer is in the music, it’s absolutely incredible and these guys have a huge future in the music industry!

Lame Gretzky is an alternative rock band formed in 2020 after mutual friends within the music scene
reached out to collaborate and write material together.

What started as a simple ‘garage’ project grew into something none of the members could have expected. With the band having creative freedom and each member having their own eclectic tastes, they soon started to create their unique sound.

Lead vocalist, Juan had this to say about his experience in Lame Gretzky,

“For lack of better words, it is just beyond rad to be a part of this. The entire process has been fun, refreshing, and an overall positive experience. It doesn’t feel like work or a chore to drive, however far for practice, and to think of ideas. It is a joy to be able to create music with a group again and be brave enough collectively to think of ways to put ourselves out there. To really get into the DIY of it and all the things bands do nowadays to present themselves. It is just a blast working with not just these dudes but so many friends; old and new. I can’t imagine where it all goes from here.”

By mashing together alternative rock, pop punk, indie rock, and other musical influences they’ve created a complete and utter masterpiece in their ‘Greatest Hits’ EP!

They have a very unique sound, but if I had to choose a band that sounded similar, I would say the awesome Motion City Soundtrack, especially in ‘Best Year So Far’ and ‘ Philaphobia’.

Guitarist Mark said this about the EP,

“The writing and recording process was so fun and easy. Everyone always had something to contribute to push the songs to being the best they possibly could be. Writing these songs felt different than when we’ve written in past bands because we truly were just writing for ourselves.

We’ve all done this before and we know that “making it” in the music industry is slim-to-none. We put aside those teenage aspirations and just played what we thought sounded cool and I feel like that shows in these songs.”

I really think the songs on the EP speak for themselves and this is now one of, if not my favourite release of the year so far! It’s going to be on repeat for a good few months, and can’t wait for you to all hear this perfect record!

I’ve added my favourite song on the EP ‘Best Year So Far’ onto our ‘ Punkio’s Alternative Rock Picks’ playlist!
