Letters From Suburbia – Poker Night

The talented emo punk, pop punk, skater rock solo artist Letters From Suburbia has recently released ‘Poker Night’.

Jesse D. Pennington’s “Letters From Suburbia” portrays the post-pandemic suburban grind with sharp wit, very memorable hooks, and a poignant reflection on life’s responsibilities.

Each song is a ‘letter’ about a topic from modern suburban America. All of his songs are very well written and ‘Poker Night’ is no different.

Jesse is inspired by late 90’s and early 00’s pop punk and emo powerhouses, the best era for pop punk and emo! His tracks feature solid punk-driven vocals that fans of Blink 182, Death Cab For Cutie and Jimmy Eat World would easily find enjoyable. It’s about the grind of responsibilities, the angst of regrets and the struggle against time.

“This was more of ajoke song that ended up being so well received, it made the cut in the studio. Last summer, my friends and neighbors bailed on a Poker Night was looking forward to at the last minute. So instead of playing poker, I stayed up all night and wrote this song about how annoyed I was, name dropping everyone in the group, and sending it to all of them the next morning, much to their enjoyment and surprise. Thus the legacy of the “Poker Night” that never began!”we

Said Jesse (Letters From Suburbia) about ‘Poker Night’.

I think the whole idea behind the song is brilliant, and being able to write such an incredibly catchy song on the spot like this shows Jesse’s writing talent!

Friends and family letting you down is a subject that we can all relate to, and l love that Letters From Suburbia has been able to share his frustrations. I think next time someone lets me down I’m going to send them ‘Poker Night’ and tell them to listen carefully to the lyrics!
