Our Nameless Boy – Leaving Party

Bristol based alt-rock band, Our Nameless Boy, have returned with their brand-new single ‘Leaving Party’!

Our Nameless Boy’s music is inspired by the passionate, intense, and sometimes chaotic style of the late ’90s and early 2000s alternative and emo music scene in the US.

“Leaving Party” is the follow-up single to their debut album “Colour from the Doves” released in 2021. The album delved into lead vocalist Iain’s personal struggle with cancer and a recent change in sight, reflecting his efforts to navigate the complexities of the modern human experience.

Iain Gorrie, Vocalist had this to say about “Leaving Party“,

“Leaving Party” was a reaction to the dangerous rhetoric of the likes of Suella Braverman et al. I guess I was trying to fill what felt to me to be a void in empathy, compassion and humanity left by such people. ‘LP’ is an attempt to write from the perspective of a father fleeing war with a young daughter, having lost his wife in a bombing. I try to imagine as best I can the sense of loss and hopelessness in a position like that (“… that decision, like my love, was taken from my hands”).”

This song effectively captures the essence of the 2000s emo sound, evoking strong feelings of nostalgia and reigniting my deep passion for the genre.

I am really captivated by the way the song begins with a solitary guitar and the vocals, creating an intimate and raw ambiance, before transitioning into the emo sound we all know and love.

I’m certain that this song will propel Our Nameless Boy to new heights within the emo music scene.

We’ve added Our Nameless Boy “Leaving Party” to our alternative rock playlist ‘Punkio’s Alternative Rock Picks’.
