The Black Death of 1349

Returning in a blaze of horrifying glory is another monstrous Norwegian black metal powerhouse, 1349.

The group has just released their new single “Ash of Ages” and let me tell you what, it does not disappoint. The song is beautifully heavy with its intricate guitars and pounding drums, met with infamous black metal screams that will make your ears bleed while you grin uncontrollably.

The production on this song is superb for a black metal outfit. Surprisingly clear to hear and not with a lo-fi production quality, which is so common in the genre.

We can only hope there is more to come soon that’s as sophisticated and pleasing to the ears as this phenomenal single.

And in case you’re curious about the meaning of their name, it’s the year the black death plague arrived on Scandinavian shores.

I highly recommend this listen and encourage you to check out more from the band in the links provided below.
